We have all had those times when you receive a call that changes the trajectory of your life in an instant.
That call with an adoption referral and you find out who your new child will be. A call asking you to be a foster parent. Or those bad calls letting you know a loved one has taken a turn for the worse or has passed. Those calls advising you of bad medical test results or that a friend has cancer.
We have been through some of those calls on both sides. We have jointly lost 3 of our 4 parents which were all hard calls. A few years ago I received a call advising that a little spot had tested positive and needed more treatment. But we got through these calls.
This week we received another one of those calls. A call that makes everything go in slow motion where you go "What does this mean" or "Why! or Why us!. A call that you know will change your short term plans and maybe long term and that travel is suddenly at a stop and that you are at the mercy of doctors and appointments.
That call that puts life in a fog for a time where you wonder where strength for your next step will come from, where you feel like you have been punched in the gut. Where you don't want to be around people or talk to anyone.
I can not imagine dealing with times like this without our faith. We know that God is in control and that none of this is a surprise to Him. We are also thankful for good friends that have prayed for us and with us. V who has sent scriptures and videos and has been at the alter for us. For a doctor / friend that stopped what he was doing and sat down and prayed for us. He also gave words of encouragement and comfort.
Well here is where we are and the journey through the unknown begins. We will walk by faith and will follow where He leads us. And most days that is hard for me as I like to be in control. So as we go down this road I try to learn to give up control and trust more.
