Today was a sight seeing day so we were able to sleep in a bit. Hannah went to bed around 7:30 last night and slept to about 7 this morning. She is improving and bonding with us a little. No major outburst yet today. She is eating good and that is a great thing.
We are shocked at the levels of neglect she must have been subjected to. The orphanage did not do a very good job with her and we have our work cut out for us in many ways. But no one ever said this would be easy and trust me it is not. We know that God brought us to her and that he will provide for any needs she has.
Today we went to the Tengwang Pavilion. It is a large temple that was really neat. 6 stories tall and we climbed a lot of stairs. Hannah did remarkably well going up but it not good at going down stairs. The views of the city were great.
We visited a wonderful gift shop and were able to get her a few gifts from her province. The Coy ponds were beautiful and they had a garden that has statues of all the zodiac symbols around it.
One thing that happens as a Westerner here random people walk up to you and want their photos taken with you. these girls approached Robin for a picture.
Here are more photos of the day.
Then off to a large multi story shopping mall that is very near our hotel. We saw some great street food and one of our favorite western foods when here Pizza Hut. This is the first non Chinese food we have had since being here. The seafood lovers pizza is GREAT.
The seafood pizza is great but if you dont want that then head out to the street vendors for some fried squid and stuff on a stick. Then we went for a walk in the park down by the river and from here could see just how far up the river has gotten.
Hannah did great she walked a lot today and behaved much better. We have a long way to go but she is responding and hopefully bonding. She has no idea how good her life is about to get, she only knows that we took her away from the only life she has ever known.
Pray for us tomorrow, as it will be a long and difficult day. We will drive about 3.5 hours to her orphanage and home town to see where she has been living for 6.5 years. Going back should help her with closure but it will be like ripping a scab off so there will be pain and grief tomorrow.
Tonight we hope to take in the light show from the park by the river. I may post more on that later.
