Home One Week

One week ago today we made it home after a brief stop in Atlanta to get the girls back.

The ride home was uneventful.  Joshua was a very good passenger most of the trip.   This past week has been a mix of progress and frustrations.

Joshua is finally getting into a sleep routine which is good.   We have been up as many as 6 times during a night with him and the past couple of nights he has slept all night long which is good.   Shaun is adjusting to having to share a room with him and when Josh is getting up every few hours it has been rough on Shaun.  A few nights we have just let Shaun move to the guest room so he could sleep.

We are getting back into a sleep routine.  I have only had jet lag one time prior to this trip and never on a China trip.  However this trip I have done well getting up and going each day but have to admit if I sit down of the evening I am gone and fast asleep.   We have attempted to watch TV or movies as a family and I have missed most of it.  Thankfully I was allowed to sleep in today which I hope helped.

Joshua is really expressing himself.  He is a picky eater and has made it clear which foods he likes and dislikes.   We learned this evening that he loves BBQ pork so that is good. He has eaten a lot of rice this past week as that is a comfort food for him.

The girls have been great helpers with him.  They have really taken him in and loved him.   Shaun is adjusting to having a new brother and they play well together most of the time.

It has been a hectic week with getting back into the swing at work for me.  Robin has been trying to establish the summer routine for everyone else.

We are thankful to be home and thankful to have Joshua as part of our family.   Adjustment takes time and Joshua has to set the pace for this as he is going through the biggest adjustment.    Have a very blessed Memorial Day Weekend and remember to say thank you to those that serve in our armed forces and to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

  1. Not had jet lag with China trips? Yay.
Trip #1 had me feeling like a nutty person. Could not function some of the time.
Hope you both get some rest!!!!
