2019 has been a wild ride. We had a wedding for our third son and his sweet wife. The adoption was much more difficult than we ever expected and Hannah's needs much more than we ever dreamed. There has been sickness in my family this year that continues with 2 of my siblings having cancer, along with other medical issues for close family. On top of that work has been very hard this year. The adjustment with Hannah has been so hard on everyone in the family this year. But through all of this we know in our hearts that God called us to adopt this child and that he will see us through it. On the hard days we have held on to this fact and trusted God to provide strength and endurance for all of us.
We have been so proud of our kids from the youngest to the oldest adult child they have all been supportive and have accepted Hannah as their sister. They have adjusted and adapted as necessary throughout the last 6 months.
It will be interesting to see how Hannah does with Christmas. She has been pretty good about not bothering the gifts under the tree. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to opening the gifts. We will post more after Christmas day.
She is finally learning to play and has some toys that she really enjoys. The kitchen center is once again a hit as it has been with the other kids. She will cook pretend food and serve us. She loves to play with bop it but is not very good at it.
On another front Hannah started school the Monday after Thanksgiving. She is doing well and learning some things. Hard to spend nearly 7 years of your life with no one to teach you basic things, then be moved to another country with a new language and so many things you had never seen. Learning in general is difficult for her, but through all of this she generally has a smile on her face and overall has a good attitude. She seems to like school and her teacher and classmates. She also seems to like being part of our family. Communication is still very hard, learning to speak English has been extremely hard for her due to her age and medical condition, she understands just about everything but putting thoughts into words is so hard for her.
We pray that 2020 will be a more calm year for all of us. We pray that Hannah will continue to adapt and learn. We pray that we can deal with her needs and provide what she needs.
We also pray for your our friends and family that have followed us through this journey.
