Wow hard to believe that one year ago today we arrived in the US with Maria. Last Tuesday January 4th was her 1 year anniversary of got ya day (the day we received her in China). We had actually met her on New Years Eve when we visited New Day.
It amazes me to see how much Maria has changed in the past year. Her language is excellent. She is learning to read and write. She is getting stronger and more self sufficient all the time. Amazing what a year, some love and medical treatment can do to change a child forever. Granted we had a wonderful head start with her thanks to all the wonderful work done by New Day before we received her in China.
We have been blessed over the past year in so many ways. We have also seen struggles including the loss of the girls papaw (Forrest dad) last week. We are thankful for the time all of our children have had to share with their grandparents and are saddened that only one grandmother remains for them now.
We look forward to many great things this new year and look forward to seeing what God has in store for our family this year.

Congrats on your 1 year home Anniversary! Time sure flies!! I remember the day your precious girl's first photos appeared on the website. I remember praying her through so much, even at New Day. And then again when she was home with you. I also remember when Carrie posted the announcement on the NDFH blog of both of our girls being matched, in the same post! You traveled much sooner than us, but it was a treat to follow along. It's so wonderful to hear praise reports and see Maria blossoming at home. I can't believe it has been a year already.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the loss of papaw, but glad he was able to know Maria, even if for a short time. Sending big hugs your way!
love,
Tanya
I am sorry to hear about your father Forrest. Now he will be watching over Maria and the rest of your children.
